Teos Antik kenti M.Ö. 1000 yıllarında bir İon kolonisi olarak kurulmuştur.
Kurucusu Dionysos'un oğlu Athames olarak bilinir. Dionisos kültürünün kent ve çevresindeki önemi nedeniyle M.Ö. 3. yüzyılda, şair, müzisyen, tiyatrocu ve şarkıcılardan oluşan Dionysos Sanatçılar Birliği Teos'ta kurulmuştur. Ayrıca Anadolu'daki en büyük Dionysos Tapınağı Teos'ta inşa edilmiştir.

The ancient city of Teos was founded as an Ionian colony around 1000 BC. Its founder is known as Athames, the son of Dionysus. Due to the importance of Dionysian culture in the city and its surroundings, the Dionysian Artists Union, consisting of poets, musicians, theater artists and singers, was founded in Teos in the 3rd century BC. In addition, the largest Dionysian Temple in Anatolia was built in Teos.
